I am Zhang Wei. Actually, last year, I heard about Tzu Chi from Professor Zhang Minghui and the amiable teachers. Although I wasn't clear about the specifics at the time, I had a vague sense that it was a good thing. It wasn't until July this year that I finally had the opportunity to walk in here in person, and every detail was filled with love and thoughtfulness. Moreover, every volunteer was spreading warmth through their actions, making me unconsciously integrate into it.
Love never stops
This time, I deliberately arrived in Suzhou four days in advance, at 3:30 am on the 18th. The sky was still dark, and the gate of the Tzu Chi Industrial Park was tightly closed. After ringing the doorbell, the security guard kindly and quickly opened the door for me.

After breakfast, Teacher Jiang Lian asked me to contact the previous campers and inquire about their recent situations and needs. This made me feel that Tzu Chi not only organizes activities but also continuously brings care into everyone's hearts. What touched me was that when I started calling, the other party was somewhat wary, but as soon as they heard "Suzhou Tzu Chi Clinic", their tone immediately became friendly. This trust made me deeply feel everyone's recognition and gratitude towards Tzu Chi.
Many students told me that their greatest gain was the change in their diet. One cancer patient shared that he was originally a meat-eater and ate very little vegetables. After participating in the Health Promotion Camp, he started to eat mainly vegetarian food and supplemented with meat. This tangible change is precisely what the Health Promotion Camp hopes to achieve - not just listening to lectures, but also applying what you have learned in life.

I also helped tidy up the guest room, and learned a lot from Teacher Jiefen. I thought the room was already as clean as new, but she insisted on tidying it up again: how to fold the quilt, where to place it, how to arrange the pillow and pillowcase for a more aesthetic look, and even the bathroom was equipped with a foldable shower seat for people with limited mobility. There were also emergency call bells in the bathroom and beside the bed. All of these far exceeded the service of ordinary hotels and were comparable to medical-level attentiveness.

She also told me that each room is equipped with a video that provides detailed instructions on how to switch on and off the lights and various facilities. The warm and thoughtful advice was spot-on. Through these details, I deeply felt that Tzu Chi is a rigorous, considerate, and loving organization. "Making everyone feel clean and warm the moment they enter the door is a sense of peace that no amount of money can buy."
And in the process of serving, we are also cultivating our own hearts. Every time I give, I feel like I am growing, and I feel very fortunate and grateful for such a valuable opportunity to learn and grow.
Changing Diet, Restoring Health
In terms of courses, Professor Gan's lecture on "Diet and Health" was very enlightening for me. In June 2024, I first heard these contents in Xingshan and discovered many concepts that I had never known before, or even had the opposite view on. Since then, I have started to try a vegetarian diet, avoiding meat, eggs, and dairy. Although there have been setbacks along the way, by repeatedly attending lectures and enhancing my understanding, I have become more and more determined, and now I am completely vegetarian.

Professor Gan's classes are always very exciting, especially this time. The professor is very devoted to his teaching, eager to share all the knowledge with us. I was deeply influenced by this. In Xingshan, if Professor Gan cannot come, sometimes I substitute for him. Even if it's the same content, I feel that there is still much for me to learn.
As a student, we cannot just stay at the level of "listening to the lecture is very enjoyable", but also need to truly bring the concept home and put it into practice. At the beginning, many people could not accept the new way of diet. I often heard such questions: "We are undergoing treatment, can eating these provide nutrition? Leukocyte increase depends on protein, how can we do without meat and nutrition?" But through the course, such doubts have become less. Change needs to be gradual, and it is important to find a pace that suits your own recovery.

An easy-going teacher, she will always be my role model, like a beacon leading me ahead..
At the age of 33, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I underwent two surgeries and three rounds of chemotherapy, but had to terminate the treatment due to bacteremia. Later, I learned Guolin Qigong and became a Guolin New Qigong teaching instructor in 2017, benefiting others. My body has gradually recovered until today.
I wish to be an umbrella holder, serving all sentient beings.
Dr. Ye Lin's words have been etched in my heart: "I once got wet in the rain, so I want to hold an umbrella for others." I also hope to patiently and meticulously share the comprehensive health and wellness concept of "Four Methods and Eight Directions" promoted by Professor Zhang Minghui and Teacher Suihe in Xingshan with more people in need.

I used to have a bad temper, and when I saw someone not studying hard, I would get anxious. Later, I realized that being kind is not enough; it's also important to make others feel loved and taken care of.
After getting sick in 2015, I started studying the Book of Changes and traditional culture, constantly questioning the meaning of life, but I couldn't find an answer. It wasn't until I came to Tzu Chi in July and talked with several volunteers that many of my confusions suddenly disappeared. Their heartfelt, passionate, and selfless sharing deeply attracted me - I also hope to become someone like that.
I believe that one cannot live their life solely for themselves; it's more important to serve the public. Starting with family members and then extending to those around us, this is the value of life.
I am very grateful to my family for always supporting me, and I also want to bring Tzu Chi into their lives, so that everyone can live with clarity and realize the value of their life.

I used to work tirelessly, thinking that going out to play was like committing a crime, a waste of time. I believed that young people should strive hard, buy a house and a car, and that this was the normal life. I was obsessed with making my parents live better, but I exhausted myself. Only after getting sick did I realize that this was not what I truly wanted.
"Don't neglect the small good deeds." Every small effort made every day will eventually flow together into a stream of kindness in life, and every bit of care and warmth is a beacon that illuminates others' hearts. "Now, I teach Guo Lin the new qigong every day, enjoying the present moment, and I find myself living a more fulfilling and comfortable life. I have finally found myself and the life I truly want."
